TRUMPF, prestigious world leading brand in the production of machines for metal forming and laser metal cutting technologies has confirmed their participation in the next edition of LAMIERA, scheduled to take place in Bologna from 12 to 15 May. With more than 1000 m2 of exhibition space booked, TRUMPF Homberger is the company with the largest exhibition area at the next edition of the landmark show for the sector manufacturers. Paolo Musante, 47 years old, CEO of the joint venture company between the German parent company, the majority shareholder, and the ongoing Italian partner, has no doubt that crisis or no crisis we need to be at LAMIERA and above all we must be present as the leader we are. That is why the exhibition area acquired is equal to that occupied at the 2008 edition, when no definite crisis was spoken of. We have confirmed the space; we will only reduce setting up costs, in line, on the other hand, with the understated profile which befits the times.
So LAMIERA is a very important showcase for you Lamiera is not to be missed, that's what I told the German parent company as soon as we met to determine the budget. TRUMPF Homberger has been an exhibitor at LAMIERA ever since it was held in Turin. On the other hand, the Stuttgart headquarters have to agree on the best course of action for the brand's presence at the exhibition in Bologna.
Why? Because first of all LAMIERA is located in an important market for us. Italy is the fourth consumer in the world of metal forming machine tools and the second in Europe. But this is not the only reason, in fact there is an aspect that the Germans think about very carefully: the exhibition is the most important event south of the Alps for finding out about innovations in the sector. In other words, LAMIERA attracts operators that do not generally visit shows in north-central Europe. So LAMIERA definitely has a higher value than Blechexpo, even though there too you can enjoy an excellent Exhibition Centre.
So what can you tell us about the location of the Bologna show? Bologna is in a good location, despite the traffic, the city is perfectly integrated into the Italian infrastructure fabric and the presence of clients from all regions actually confirms this fact. It is a people-friendly exhibition, and given its size it is possible to form a personal and direct relationship with the organisers. I would say all these aspects featured in the purchasing decision.
Mr. Musante, let's move on to TRUMPF Homberger, what will we see at LAMIERA? Firstly we have a large exhibition area because we want to be able to welcome our clients easily and make sure they feel at ease and are comfortable, and also because we want to exhibit our machines with maximum visibility. At LAMIERA 2010 our stand will have ten or so machines that represent the broad spectrum of our production: 2D laser cutters, machines for bending and, finally, machines with combined punching/laser technology. In the spotlight will be our new two-dimensional laser cutting machine such as the new limited size laser cells for cutting and welding. Designed to meet the needs of a public that so far - although mistaken - did not think it could access the supply offered by the Stuttgart company, the new proposals are the result of the intense R & D activity that has always set TRUMPF apart. As a producer of technologies and a forerunner of innovation in response to the difficulties caused by the current situation, the TRUMPF group has seen turnover fall by 22.5% compared with the previous year and investment in R&D rose by 2.7% in 2009, with the aim of better responding to market needs. Many of the machines which will be exhibited on our stand at LAMIERA are the result of this effort, aimed, among other things, at enriching the range of products that our public already knows and appreciates. Machines which, by upholding the standards that make our product stand out, guarantee investments aimed at an ever increasing customer group.
So we'll see you at LAMIERA We will see you at LAMIERA with the hope of being able to recover solid interest in investment after the faint signs of a reversal of the trend that we have registered in recent months.
